How do I become a Medicaid Provider?
1. Become a Licensed Home Care Agency in the State.
2. Obtain and maintain a National Provider Identifier (NPI).
3. Enroll through the Medicaid Provider Enrollment System.
4. Register and enroll to submit all claims electronically by Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) through a clearing house, or Direct Data Entry (DDE) through the Medicaid web portal.
How long does it take to become a Medicaid Provider?
Medicaid typically completes enrollment applications in 30 - 90 days. This varies widely by intermediary (by state). We see some applications turnaround in 30 days and others take as long as 3 months. Medicaid will set the effective date as the date they receive the application.
